By providing equal opportunities in the media industry and access to media content, communities can benefit from diverse opinions and experiences in the production and direction of media content.
The Authority aims to increase women's representation in the sector in senior positions and roles. Currently, there are 40 female employees, 5 of whom hold senior positions. Women represent about 15% of the total employees in the Authority. The Authority aims to increase the proportion of female leaders to 30% by 2030.
The Authority allows women to apply for media licenses to work in the media field, as well as for the Trusted License and to obtain a professional card. The number of women holding media licenses is 2,011, those with the Trusted License are 2,417, and those with a professional journalist card are 79.
"Mothoq" License helps achieve sustainable development goals by applying policies and procedures to ensure regulations apply to citizens, residents, and foreign investors advertising via social media platforms about a brand, product, service, event, or commercial happening within the Kingdom. This is done without compromising the regulations set by the General Authority for Media Regulation, the executive regulations, and the provisions of these controls.
