The General Commission for Audiovisual Media concluded its distinguished participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024, which was held from September 26 to October 5 at King Saud University in Riyadh. The Commission’s pavilion attracted significant interest from visitors, showcasing its regulatory services related to book and publication clearance, in addition to offering a dedicated platform for direct registration of professional media personnel.
The pavilion was honored by visits from several prominent figures, including His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture; His Excellency Mr. Salman Al-Dosari, Minister of Media; His Excellency Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information, Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs of Kuwait; Dr. Mohammed Alwan, CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission; Dr. Abdulatif Alabdullatif, CEO of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media; and Prof. Abdullah Al-Salman, Acting President of King Saud University.
As part of the exhibition’s activities, the Vice President of the Commission, Mr. Hassan Al-Sulami, conducted a workshop that highlighted the importance of empowering Saudi creatives in the media sector. Al-Sulami noted that the Kingdom leads the podcasting industry in the region, with the Commission having registered over 300 Saudi programs to date.
This participation comes as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to raise media awareness, engage directly with the public, and shed light on its vital role in regulating the publishing sector and providing support to those interested in the media field.
